Peace &Change, Volume 49, Issue 4, Page 400-413, October 2024.

Abstract

This article discusses a seminar-style course on peace history offered as an option in the general education program at Gwynedd Mercy University since the Spring 2020 semester. After describing the context that led to the development of the course, it outlines features of the course syllabus, such as course topics, assignments, and resources. It offers specific suggestions for reading material and other content, discussion threads, in-class activities, options for short essays, and research paper topics. Instructors may find the syllabus helpful as a catalyst for developing ideas for their own course emphasizing peace as a theme in history or as a source for topics about peace to include piecemeal in syllabi in survey and other courses.
